Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Superyacht Dubai – Fit for a Sheikh

Being ‘fit for a King’ is used to describe the best of the best things in the world. The superyacht Dubai is not only one of the best yachts in the world; it is also literally fit for royalty. The Dubai was originally commissioned by Brunei’s Prince Jefri Bolkiah and named Platinum. The unfortunate Prince ran out of money and it now belongs to the emir of Dubai, who is also the VP and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates – Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Deluxe entertainment over several floors

The enormous yacht Dubai spans 162 meters and features a deck made with quality teak and many floors. A large area on the expansive deck is enclosed and air-conditioned, making it an ideal place to be for those sensitive to hot weather. There is no lack of amenities on this vast yacht, which has everything a guest needs to be entertained onboard. This includes a helicopter platform, several sunbathing areas, pools, spas and two purpose built rooms housing a variety of water sports equipment. The Dubai’s huge garage is home to two tenders measuring 10 meters each, making it easy for visitors to explore the shores of wherever the yacht anchors, or to simply enjoy cruising on the ocean.

Limitless luxury for guests

There are a multitude of dining areas, saloons and lounging areas. Guests can choose between dining inside or outside and whether they prefer a more formal or informal experience. An elevator in a private yacht may seem like something quite luxurious to the average yacht owner but this is not the case with the ruler of the UAE’s superyacht. In addition to the enormous open staircase expertly crafted in glass, the Dubai boasts three elevators that transport guests between lavishly decorated floors. Besides entertainment amenities, guests are assured of a good night’s rest onboard the Dubai in lush guest suites. Up to 72 guests can be comfortably accommodated while there is ample space for as many as 115 crew members to see to guests’ every need.

Sheikh Mohammed

The owner of Dubai, Sheik Mohammed is the third of four sons born to Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan al-Nahyan. Sheikh Mohammed and his father are the descendents of the ruling family of Dubai and his mother is the daughter of the ruler of Abu Dhabi. He was schooled in Dubai and the United Kingdom before travelling to Italy where he trained to become a pilot. Since taking office in 2006, Sheik Mohammed has been the driving force behind a major overhaul in the UAE government. By launching several major enterprises like Emirates Airline, Jumeirah Group and DP World, the Sheikh has directly contributed to growing Dubai into a globally recognised city. His vision is to make the UAE ‘one of the best countries in the world’ within 11 years and this led to the launch of UAE Vision 2021 in 2010. Sheikh Mohammed is also involved with equestrian activities and is a renowned poet in his native language, Arabic.
