Italians are known as the style gurus of the world and this certainly applies to everything the internationally celebrated Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli touches. From his stately Florentine home to every item of clothing that flows from his creative mind, Cavalli brings bold and detailed exotic designs to life. It is with the same flair that Cavalli designed the interior of his 134 foot luxury yacht. Valued at nearly US $50 million, the boat is used for glamorous family trips, lavish star-studded parties and occasionally lent out to friends like David and Victoria Beckham for a posh vacation.
The Roberto Cavalli
Perhaps one of the most noticeable yachts around, Roberto Cavalli’s yacht named after him stands out because of its sleek design and bold color scheme. Like Cavalli’s clothing designs, it is impossible not to look, and look again, at the magnificent seafaring vessel. Depending on the angle that you are looking at the shimmering luxury yacht from, it changes color. Rolled out in 2005, the Roberto Cavalli motor yacht is iridescent purple, gleaming gold, sparkling green and sometimes deep blue. Inside, the yacht has the exclusive Cavalli stamp as the Italian fashion man designed the interior himself. The deck has a jacuzzi and a massive dining table lined with luxurious teak wood, ideal for al fresco dinner parties. The well stocked bar features a collection of high-priced wines. The Roberto Cavalli is a superb vessel designed with style and entertainment in mind.
Baglietto – Balancing Craftsmanship and Style
This fashionable yacht was built by Baglietto. Started by Pietro Baglietto in 1854 in what used to be his vegetable garden, Baglietto began by building useful boats but soon moved to crafts designed only to bring pleasure. The company grew successfully through the years and is now a well respected boat yard. Today Baglietto reserves a space at all the most prominent exhibitions around the world, like the Monaco Yacht Show and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Technological superiority and aesthetic brilliance is essential to every Baglietto masterpiece.
Born and raised in Florence, Tuscany, Roberto Cavelli became fascinated with textiles while he was studying at the Academy of Art. Although he initially planned to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and become an artist, Cavelli changed his mind and moved in the direction of textiles and fashion design. After coming up with an idea to print onto leather and then realizing it is possible to create evening gowns from the leather, the intrepid textile specialist launched his first line. His patented printing technique was instantly popular and he started earning commission from established fashion houses like Pierre Cardin and Hermès. Cavalli’s success led to further creative originality with sand blasted and printed jeans which drastically diversified the market. Eventually he became the go-to designer for the jet-set crowd and racked up a clientele, that includes Jennifer Lopez, the Spice Girls and Christina Aguilera. Despite being in his seventies, Roberto Cavalli continues to work and play in lavish style, releasing lines and products and hosting parties on his yacht.
