Travel to Norway and sail from Oslo to a magical maze of over 40 islands. On some, you’ll find charming fishing villages; others are home to elaborate and luxurious summer residences. You may also come across some of the many uninhabited islands of Norway, where you will experience true tranquility.

Known as the land of the Vikings, Norway’s natural scenery is dramatic and awe-inspiring – and the best way to see it is from the water. If you go yachting in Norway, you’re bound to come across vast open spaces, majestic fjords, mountains, glaciers, and massive waterfalls.

Lysefjord, Norway

In some parts of the harsh Norwegian wilderness, polar bears outnumber people, and in other parts of Norway, you’ll find bustling cities with every modern convenience you can imagine. There are three Michelin-starred restaurants in Oslo and an explosion of other eateries and bars. Yachting in Norway is a delightfully diverse experience.

The Spirit of Ancient Times

Every yachting excursion in Norway is nothing short of breathtaking. Chartering a yacht in this historically relevant part of the world is like sailing back in time. You’ll travel on the same water system that intrepid explorers and fierce warriors traversed centuries ago.

Like these fearless adventurers of old, you’ll sail past imposing fjords rising from icy waters as you watch humpback whales and orcas glide past your vessel. On winter nights, you’ll experience the ancient glory of the Northern Lights – one of the most spectacular natural phenomena.

Adventure Awaits!

Adventurous sailing enthusiasts simply have to travel to Norway. The rugged coastline is highly diverse. It provides hundreds of quiet bays where explorers can drop anchor and enjoy the raw natural beauty of this magical country. It’s worth sailing to the Hanseatic city of Bergen, where you can dock and make a leisurely visit to a charming old town near the port.

Then sail to the Lofoten Islands, an archipelago known for some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Crystal clear water gently laps at long stretches of white sand with towering jagged mountains as a dramatically beautiful backdrop. Navigating between these remote islands requires excellent sailing skills as it is challenging. However, for the experienced yachtsperson, it will be a truly unforgettable journey.

Navigating True Rugged Beauty

For the best cruising conditions, visit Norway from May to September. If the best weather is your priority, June to August is a perfect time. For those happy to brave icy conditions for the sake of unparalleled beauty, the Northern Lights are at their most spectacular during winter.

Fjords Yacht Norway

The key cruising areas are the fjords and Norway’s west coast. Don’t miss Geirangerfjord – it’s one of the most stunning sights imaginable. You’ll see deep blue water meeting sheer cliffs with waterfalls carving through pine forests as glaciers feed them. For longer sailing adventures, the archipelago of Svalbard is a must-see. Since this is where polar bears outnumber people, it’s not for the faint-hearted!
