Luxurious and Contemporary – Icon Yachts

According to CEO of Icon Yachts Jen Wartena the essence that defines the team at Icon is passion, and the drive to excel. From the stakeholders to the management team all the way to the shop floor staff, every person at Icon holds this passion. Combined with expertise and experience, the result is a motivated team that loves to design, engineer and realise the ultimate superyacht for clients.

Facilities

The Icon Yachts construction yard is located less than an hour’s drive from Amsterdam in a sheltered area 2.5 miles of clear access from the North Sea. There are no obstacles or locks to navigate. The yard has a large dry dock, 150 metres in length, 50 metres wide and 10 metres deep. The dock can accommodate four vessels of up to 70 metres at the same time or up to six 50 metre ships simultaneously. The mast clearance height is 28 metres and there is 500 metres of secure mooring in the sheltered deep-water harbour. The mooring is not restricted by locks, bridges or dykes. The Icon construction facility also has a 4,500 ton Syncrolift, a 150 metre dry dock with a maximum draft of 7.5 metres, an overhead crane with a capacity for 200 tons, and an outreach of 12 metres, 300 metres of secure berthing and 1200 square metres of heated storage buildings.

The Admin Block

The administrative duties are taken care of at the offices on site that overlook the refit projects. It consists of 800 square metres of captains/crew offices that can accommodate over 50 people. The steel workshop is geared for special assemblies and has an interior workshop and a landing facility for helicopters.

Safety Comes First

Less than ten years after Icon Yachts was founded, the company became one of the first shipyards in the world to receive the safety certification of ISO 9001:2008 for the construction of yachts – this is a major achievement in the yachting world and proves the company’s commitment to achieving only the very highest standards. Because Icon Yachts upholds these standards in all aspects, including logic and process control it is possible to provide strong assurances that every project that is undertaken will be completed to specification, on time, within budget and at world class standard.

The Baton Rouge and Other Icon Yachts and Refits

Although Icon Yachts are a relatively new player in the international luxury yacht building sector, the company has already built a few yachts for important people around the world. One example is the Baton Rouge, a 62 metre long superyacht constructed for the French industrialist and billionaire Martin Bouygues. The Baton Rouge is valued at around US$75 million and is available for charter at US$500,000 per week. Besides new constructions Icon has also completed several highly successful refits of famous yachts including the famous charter yacht Sherakhan, the 74 metre Ilona, a superyacht originally built by Dutch master yacht builders Amels and the Seahorse, a 52 metre superyacht, also constructed by Amels.
