Damen SeaXplorer100 – The Ice-Breaking Luxurious Superyacht
Heads have been turning and buoys bobbing since the 2018 Superyacht Design Symposium, held at K3 KitzKongress, a convention centre in the charming centre of Kitzbuhel, Austria.
The demand to engineer a wild-frontier expedition yacht crossed with a professional vessel and a superyacht has exploded in the last decade. Not to mention the ever-increasing need for autonomy at sea during long voyages in remote locations, a trend that has become increasingly evident in the world of international luxury yachting.
A Pioneer in Its Class
The first yacht built to meet the new Polar Code Standards, which came into force in 2017, is Damen’s SeaXplorer. Currently under development and backed by EYOS, the leading superyacht expedition specialists, the SeaXplorer100 is making waves in the yachting industry. Damen’s design team, led by Jaap van der Velde, built a superyacht infused with knowledge gained over hundreds of expeditions, with the goal of total freedom and sovereignty out at sea for an unprecedented 40 days.
Strength and Beauty
Focused on constructing a strong and robust vessel, while still giving guests the cream of the crop when it comes to comfort and luxury – Damen caters to all needs. With her specially shaped ice-breaking stern, it seems the SeaXplorer is breaking boundaries that normally stop other yachts dead in their tracks.
A Synergy Between Damen and Amels – Renowned Dutch Yacht Builders
The 100m SeaXplorer100 boasts a polar code B capability, 30 guest capacity, the facility to accommodate 50 crew and expedition staff, along with gorgeous spaces connecting guests to the splendour of the outside serenity. With speeds up to 16.0 knots and a propulsion power of 8,000kw, as well as a dive centre, the SeaXplorer100 is bound to break all expectations.
They are calling this beauty the most capable and efficient expedition superyacht ever!
