Red Bull Foiling Generation Lands in America

The Red Bull Foiling Generation was developed by two two-time Olympic champions with the goal of discovering some of the top young sailors of the world. Hans Steinacher and Roman Hagara decided to launch the initiative to give talented sailors aged between 16 and 20 the opportunity to receive elite coaching as well as trailblazing foiling technology. The two have been travelling all over the world with their mission in mind.

Off to Miami, they go!

After attending five celebrated international events over the past year as well as the US Final qualifier, Red Bull Foiling Generation is ready for the World Final due to take place mid-November. Along with all other local sailing enthusiasts, they are getting excited about 16 teams from five continents racing for the championship in Miami, Florida at Virginia Key Beach Park. According to Steinacher, Miami provides an excellent setting because it is so popular in the sailing world.

A launching pad for great future sailors

Teams will be competing in a series of heats sailing four boats that are identical, except in colour. They will have the unique opportunity of being coached by Steinacher and Hagara and will gain invaluable experience during the event. The initiative can be compared to karting in motorsport. Just like youngsters start driving karts and eventually progress towards Formula 1, the Red Bull Foiling Generation is an excellent starting place for young sailors who aspire to compete at high levels in other events.

Talent from around the world

This year sailing coaches and talent scouts can look forward to seeing fresh sailors on the waters from newcomers Portugal, Austria, Greece and Argentina. Some of the top sailing countries such as the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be pulling out all the stops as they try to beat New Zealand, the defending champions.
