Made up of five breathtaking main archipelagos of islands, Greece is an ancient gem, and yet also a modern day sailing hub of the yachting world. A 9,000 mile coastline offers a well of options for adventurous yachting. Athens is generally the main starting point for those interested in exploring the wider area and can accommodate vessels of all sizes. Known for providing superb services for super and mega yachts, Athens Marina offers fresh drinking water, 24-hour mooring assistance, bathrooms, internet, a helipad and sewage disposal. The staff can also help with cleaning, technical and diving services, and there are shops and markets nearby where yachtsmen and women can stock up before exploring the other islands.

Island Hopping

There are so many islands to discover in Greece that many visitors spend their time island hopping instead of selecting a single destination. Every island has its own unique charm as well as offering superb scenery and culinary delights.

Santorini is an ideal destination for experienced sailors

The Saronic Islands

Often the first stop after leaving Athens, the Argosaronic islands like Hydra, Spetses and Poros offer temperate weather, with milder wind than many of the other islands. Perhaps this is the reason why so many famous writers like Jensen and Cohen took refuge here.

The Sporades Islands

Alonissos, Skyros, Skiathos and Skopelos are the greenest and most sheltered islands in Greece. Visitors can enjoy sunny beaches and beautiful natural scenery along with ideal sailing conditions.

The Ionian Islands

Corfu, Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Ithaca and Lefkada are some of the most famous destinations for sailors in the world. The cooler waters and steady winds make this a perfect area from which to enjoy gentle turquoise waters while relaxing onboard.

The Cyclades Islands

Incredible sailing conditions and strong winds make the islands of Santorini, Mylos, Mykonos, Ios, Naxos and Syros ideal destinations for experienced sailors. These islands are not for the faint-hearted when it comes to sailing, or to nightlife. Known for hosting exciting parties, this is a destination suited to those interested in adventure, day and night.

Crystal seas, delicious food and breathtaking scenery can be expected by those who make the great decision to delve into what the islands of Greece have to offer.
